Victoriana Ajpacajá

Victoriana Ajpacajá is a respected community leader from the Maya K’iche’ community of Ajpacajá in Totonicapán, and an essential member of the THGuatemala team within its community-based tourism programme.

Deeply rooted in her cultural heritage, Victoriana is recognised for her active role in community development and leadership, as well as for her work as a Mayan spiritual guide, supporting individuals through traditional practices that reflect ancestral knowledge and worldview.

She is also a dedicated steward of the region’s communal forests, contributing both her knowledge and hands-on efforts to their preservation—an element that enriches the authenticity of the experiences she shares with visitors.

As a community guide, Victoriana leads a variety of local tourism activities, offering travellers a genuine connection to daily life, traditions, and the natural environment of Totonicapán. Her work not only provides her with economic stability, but also plays a vital role in empowering women within her community and strengthening local participation in tourism.

Through her presence, each experience becomes deeply personal, culturally meaningful, and rooted in lived tradition.
