But, if you want to travel for party, meet new people and enjoy life in an English environment we can say Antigua Guatemala and Lago Atitlan is your best option, we recomend you this places because is full of tourist, so is gonna be easier con meet new people and you will feel like at home, you are not going to need Spanish as in Quetzaltenango, you will find people from America, Europe, Asia and may be from the rest of the world. many bars and restaurants are open with international food and drinks; that makes a lot of fun; and if you really want to be in touch with spirituality, San Pedro La Laguna is an option, is famous because of many hipies stay there so, you will practice yoga and another spiritual activities and obiously the lake is amazing.
Nevertheless, if you want to learn about history or architecture, we can say Antigua or Tikal is the best places you can visit to learn about Mayan culture, the conquest and the consequences this left to Guatemala.
And our best part, if you want sun, beach and sand, Monterrico, Sipacate and Livingston are the best options to take. Monterrico is beautiful and is close to Antigua Guatemala, maybe is the most famous beach in Guatemala because you can find a good hotels and hostal, good restaurants and many tourists but recently Sipacate Beach is making famous because of Surfing, many people says is a really good place to pactice this sport, if you like it you should go there.
